Bobbi Anderson
Principal and General Counsel, Elementum Advisors, LLC

Bobbi has advised on legal issues relating to reinsurance and risk-linked investments since 2000. Prior to joining Elementum, Bobbi was a partner at Sidley Austin LLP where she focused her practice on a variety of corporate and regulatory matters relating to the insurance industry, including insurance securitizations (catastrophe bond, side car, embedded value and redundant reserve transactions). She also advised clients with respect to the organization and operation of insurance linked securities funds, issues relating to complex reinsurance arrangements, and the structure and regulation of alternative risk financing mechanisms. She also co-authored the Legal and Transaction Structure Developments in Insurance-Linked Securities chapter of “Alternative (Re)insurance Strategies” (2012). Bobbi earned a BS with distinction in Management from Purdue University and a Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt University.

Daniel Brookman
Head of Alternative Capital, AXA XL

Mr. Brookman joined the firm in February 2016 to focus on the build out of third party capital initiatives. His responsibilities focus on developing products and offerings to enable large institutional investors to co-participate with the firm alongside its global underwriting footprint across all lines of insurance and reinsurance business via private managed accounts and fund of one investment strategies. These institutional investors are considered to be long term strategic partners and include the world's largest pension funds, sovereign funds, private equity funds, asset managers and life insurers.

Since joining the firm, Mr. Brookman founded the Daedalus program, a proprietary quantitative investment strategy, generating customized collateralized reinsurance portfolios within the non-life reinsurance-linked asset class for pension funds.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Brookman managed capital within both the life and non-life (re)insurance and retrocession markets. Mr. Brookman previously founded the reinsurance business for Barclays Capital in New York and London, served as Head of Capital Markets for Montpelier Re Ltd. in Bermuda and as Head of Alternative Distribution for Benfield Advisory, Inc. in New York.

Prior to entering the (re)insurance industry, Mr. Brookman served as a corporate finance and M&A investment banker at Merrill Lynch in London, focusing on large-cap transactions for FTSE-100 clients.

Gregory Butler
President & CEO, ICAT 

Prior to joining ICAT, Mr. Butler served as the Chief Executive Officer of the California Earthquake Authority. As the founding CEO of the CEA, he was responsible for all aspects of making the Authority operational, including establishment of all policies and procedures, oversight of the record reinsurance placement and securing its tax-exempt status. In his two years at the CEA, he saw it grow to become the largest provider of residential earthquake insurance in the world with over 900,000 policies. Prior to his tenure with the CEA, Mr. Butler was Deputy Commissioner in the California Department of Insurance.

Mr. Butler has held a variety of underwriting and operational roles during his tenure at ICAT, and is currently President and Chief Executive Officer. In 2007 he led the initiative to form Syndicate 4242 at Lloyd’s.  As the first Active Underwriter for Syndicate 4242, he successfully managed the syndicate to become a top performing syndicate at Lloyd’s.  Mr. Butler has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy from San Jose State University.

Emily Grover-Kopec
Vice President, Head of Model Solutions, RMS

Emily Grover-Kopec is Vice President and Head of Modeling Solutions at RMS where she is responsible for the solutions and services that drive adoption and additional value around RMS’ data and catastrophe model product suite. She is currently focused on the release of RMS’ U.S. Inland Flood Model solution. Previously, she has overseen RMS’ business strategy and relationships with reinsurance intermediaries, and focused on the development of strategic relationships and collaborative programs of research with global reinsurers. Prior to joining RMS in 2006 from Columbia University’s International Research Institute for Climate and Society, her work concentrated on mitigating climate risk in developing countries. Emily holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in meteorology from the University of Michigan and Penn State University.

Michael Hamer
Partner & Senior Analyst, Albourne Partners

Michael Hamer is a Partner and Senior Analyst for Albourne Partners, where he has worked for eighteen years. Based in Bermuda, he follows the insurance industry and insurance-linked funds.

Michael previously worked at Centre Solutions, a reinsurance subsidiary of Zurich Financial Services, for eight years in underwriting and risk management, and prior to that was with J.P. Morgan for fifteen years in capital markets, corporate finance and M&A, He has a B.Sc (Hons) from the University of Melbourne and an M.Sc and D.Phil from the University of Oxford.

Ian Hanson

Ian Hanson is a Vice President with Willis Re North America’s Tampa office, responsible for the production and service of Property and Casualty reinsurance. Being located in Tampa, Ian specializes in Florida domiciled P&C carriers, which includes reinsurance and exposure advisory. Prior to joining Willis Re in 2013, Ian was employed by Aon Benfield as a Catastrophe Risk Analyst.

Ian earned a B.S. from the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, MN), where he majored in Business Economics.

Adrian Jones
Deputy CEO of P&C Partners, Ventures and Strategic Partnerships. Head of Strategy & Development, SCOR Global P&C

Adrian Jones is Deputy CEO of SCOR P&C Partners in charge of Ventures and Strategic Partnerships at SCOR Global P&C.  He is also Head of Strategy & Development, having joined SCOR in 2016.  From 2010 to 2016, he was Head of Strategy at RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd, based in Bermuda.  He joined the insurance industry at Bain & Company, where he spent nine years as a consultant in the U.S. and Europe. He is a graduate of Columbia (MBA) and Wharton (BSEc).

Aaron Koch
Director & Consulting Actuary, ILS Group (P&C Division), Milliman, Inc.

Aaron is a director and consulting actuary with Milliman’s Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) Group, P&C Division. Aaron develops innovative solutions for the rapidly growing catastrophe risk and alternative capital markets. He works with leaders in these fields—including specialist hedge funds and reinsurers—to provide independent analyses and establish best-practice standards for asset valuation, post-event loss reserving, and operational reviews. In addition, Aaron is a frequent writer and speaker on alternative financing structures for catastrophe risk.

Richard Lowther, 
Partner & COO, Hiscox Re Insurance Linked Strategies

Richard Lowther is a Partner and the Chief Operating Officer of Hiscox Re Insurance Linked Strategies Ltd, a US$ 1.6bn ILS fund manager within global specialty insurance group, Hiscox Ltd.  Richard joined Hiscox in 2014 to develop the Group’s fund management platform.  In this role he oversees the Manager's team and the day-to-day operations.  Prior to joining Hiscox, Richard was the COO of the Validus Reinsurance Ltd ILS platform, AlphaCat Managers Ltd, since its formation in 2008.

Michael Millette
Founder & Managing Partner, Hudson Structured Capital Management

Michael Millette is a Founder and Managing Partner of Hudson Structured, an alternative asset manager for reinsurance and transportation linked assets based in Connecticut and Bermuda.
Mr. Millette was at Goldman Sachs from 1994 to 2015. He was elected a Partner in 2006 and held a number of positions over the course of a 21-year career at the firm. Most recently, Mr. Millette was the Global Head of Structured Finance, Co-Head of the Structured Finance Capital Committee, and President of the Goldman Sachs Mortgage Corporation. Mr. Millette was the founding team member of both the Re/insurance structured finance and principal businesses. He was a team leader or key team member for over 150 transactions in the sector. He led distribution for the first 144A catastrophe bond in 1996. He also led teams that developed Goldman’s current businesses in Transport Finance, Intellectual Property Structured Finance, Private Placements and Project Finance, and spearheaded the development of the Principal Funding business in investment banking. He led the Structured Finance Capital Committee and sector teams in the rebuilding of the GS mortgage and consumer finance businesses following the financial crisis. He was a Member of the Bank Capital Committee, as well as the Client & Business Standards Committee for Investment Banking.

Mr. Millette began his career as an Analyst at Citibank and also previously worked as a Portfolio Manager at John Hancock Financial.

He graduated from Cornell University with a BA in History, Cum Laude, and also holds a Masters in Finance from Boston College, Carroll Graduate School of Management. Mr. Millette became a CFA in 1994.In this role he oversees the Manager's team and the day-to-day operations. 

Jennifer Montero
CFO, Citizens Property Insurance Corporation

Jennifer Montero, CPA, is Chief Financial Officer for Citizens Property Insurance Corporation. In this capacity, Ms. Montero is responsible for planning and developing the financial course of the corporation. She oversees all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, treasury, remittance processing, and budgeting. She also has oversight of a $10 billion investment portfolio and is responsible for developing, negotiating and implementing Citizens’ financing program and risk transfer strategy, including traditional reinsurance and the capital markets.

Having served in positions of increasing responsibility with Citizens (and its predecessor, the FRPCJUA) since 1999, Ms. Montero has developed an unmatched institutional knowledge and in-depth understanding of Citizens’ financial needs and business model. Previous positions at Citizens include Controller and Manager of the Accounting and Finance Departments. She has more than 20 years of experience in accounting and related areas, including more than 19 years in the insurance industry.

Ms. Montero received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Florida State University and is a Florida licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Paul Schultz
CEO, Aon Securities

Paul Schultz serves as CEO of Aon Securities and leads Aon Benfield’s investment banking team, responsible for providing investment banking products and services to Aon’s clients on a global basis. Paul specializes in providing clients with strategic advice and access to capital markets.

Aon Securities has developed a market leading practice advising clients on M&A, starting new companies and transferring insurance risk to the capital markets. Paul began his career in banking in 1986 and spent 14 years at JP Morgan (its predecessor banks), specializing in the Insurance Practice from 1989. Since joining Aon in 2000, Paul has advised Aon plc on issuing the first ever securitization of private equity limited partnerships and advised clients on M&A, starting new companies, issuing senior and subordinated debt, issuing equity and raising alternative capital via the issuance of catastrophe bonds, sidecars and other collateralized structures and derivatives thereof.

Paul earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University. Paul also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Kellogg School of Management. Additionally, Paul is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Joanna Syroka

Dr. Joanna Syroka is director of business development at Fermat Capital. Joanna joined Fermat in 2017 and has over 18 years of experience in structuring and placing risk transfer programs in both emerging and developed markets. Prior to joining Fermat, she was the Director of Research & Development at African Risk Capacity (ARC), Africa’s first sovereign insurance pool which she helped design and establish in 2012, where she led the development of ARC’s parametric drought, flood, cyclone, pandemic and climate insurance initiatives. Before ARC, from 2004 to 2009 Joanna led the efforts to develop tailored weather and commodity risk management products for agricultural applications with the World Bank and in the humanitarian arena with the United Nations World Food Programme. She started her career with Centrica plc developing quantitative weather and gas risk management strategies for Centrica's trading and hedging operations. Joanna received a Ph.D. in atmospheric physics (2003) and a B.Sc. degree in physics (1999) from Imperial College, London.
